Welcome!

Audi Club Northwest (ACNW) held its first event in March 1994 at Portland International Raceway with about 30 participants. Interest grew and our second event was held in February 1995, again at Portland, with about 40 participants. These early events were planned and run by a few local enthusiasts that had been bitten by the Audi bug and wanted to share their enthusiasm with others. Many of the people who were instrumental in starting the local club in 1994 are still involved today, passing along their knowledge and expertise to new enthusiasts who come along. The Northwest Region Audi Quattro Club was incorporated in 1995 and was later renamed Audi Club Northwest, as a chapter of Audi Club North America (ACNA). Our membership area includes Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Washington. With over 650 members we are the fourth largest chapter in the nation. ACNW operates as a non-profit corporation whose purpose is to educate Audi owners about their cars, and enhance their enjoyment of their Audi. Through our driving clinics and social events, we create enthusiasts and better drivers!

Matt Ammon Memorial Driving School and Teen Clinic ***Registration is Closed***

Saturday and Sunday, May 19-20, 2012, Bremerton Motorsports Park, Port Orchard, WA

Audi Club Northwest and Achtuning are proud to present the sixth annual Matt Ammon Memorial Driving School and Teen Clinic. Saturday’s Driver Education ("DE") is not like the experience when we first earned our drivers license. This is an advanced DE course that is encouraged for all drivers, teens, novices or intermediate drivers. It is an exciting opportunity to learn how you and your car work together in real life situations on the street and highway. DE students will participate in a number of exercises (slalom, emergency braking, collision avoidance, skid pad) on Saturday morning and then run the DE Autocross in the afternoon. There are just 40 slots available in this program. More experienced drivers can register for the All-day Autocross on Saturday, which is held on a second course layout. The All-day Autocross is for practiced drivers looking for lots of runs! For enthusiasts, this big autocross is a chance to sharpen your skills for the new season. On Sunday, we have our All-day Lapping or high performance driving school. Using street rules, with strict passing rules enforced, instructed lapping on a road course puts multiple cars on the course for 20-30 minute sessions. This is not racing; there is no side-by-side braking and passing is only in controlled zones. This is another great way to learn and practice car control. People who have completed a DE course and are 18+ years old are invited to participate. Anyone who drives on the interstate should attend at least one lapping event to practice skills at highway speeds. The Teen Driver Clinic is designed for the beginning driver, teaching valuable skills such as emergency braking, collision avoidance and car control. More detailed information and registration is available now at our event registration website MotorsportReg.com.

Triangle of Fire Lighthouse Toure ***Registration is Open!***

Saturday, June 2, 2012, Puget Sound, WA

Audi Club Northwest introduces another new social/touring event for 2012. The Triangle of Fire Lighthouse Toure is a fun family event, an historic tour that will provide participants some of the history and scenery of the Puget Sound area. The route of the drive will also include at least two or three ferry rides across the sound, allowing drivers to enjoy one of the many unique aspects of the Puget Sound area. You do not have to own an Audi to attend this event. The name of the tour is derived from the “Triangle of Fire”, an area of the entrance to Puget Sound that was once protected by huge coastal forts. Fort Casey, Fort Worden, and Fort Flagler, all three at one time were the main defensive fortifications protecting Puget Sound. These three forts covered an area that was called the Triangle of Fire, preventing enemy ships from penetrating the entrance to the sound. The tentative tour route will visit all three of these fortification sites, and at each site will have viewing opportunities of the lighthouses that were installed near them: Admiralty Head Light [Fort Casey], Point Wilson Light [Fort Worden], and Marrowstone Point Light [Fort Flagler]. With the group meeting in Mukilteo, at the Mukilteo Light, a total of four lighthouses can be viewed during the tour. More detailed information and registration is available now at our event registration website MotorsportReg.com.

QuattroCross ***Registration is Open!***

Sunday, June 10, 2012, Evergreen Speedway, Monroe, WA

This new autocross program is offered by Audi Club Northwest (ACNW) and Motoring Unlimited at the Monroe Fairgrounds/Evergreen Speedway. We will have a very large autocross course utilizing portions of the Evergreen Speedway ovals and figure-8 paved area. This will be another unique autocross with the camber of the banked track being used for the additional challenge it creates. The huge figure-8 oval will be used for the majority of the course. We are limiting registrations to 50 cars so there will be plenty of runs for everyone. Helmets are required for this Full Autocross. Autocross is a wonderful way to learn car control and enjoy operating your car near it's limits. Speed is limited by the course design, but it does not feel that way! This form of motorsport places a strong emphasis on car handling and driver skill rather than high speeds or horsepower. The course uses cones to mark corners that come very rapidly to the driver. Drivers are timed one at a time from a standing start through the exit from the course, typically about one minute in total. The timing equipment permits more than one car to be underway so the groups cycle quickly. Most people that attend an autocross for the first time have never attempted anything like it. Many come back because it's just so much fun, and helpful for driver skill development and learning about how you and your car work together for a safer experience on the streets and freeways. More detailed information and registration is available now at our event registration website MotorsportReg.com.

Tax Deduction for Club Contributions

For three groups supporting the core mission of Audi Club North America, your expenses and contributions are tax deductible. Sponsors, event masters, instructors, staff, officers, and board members are eligible for the deductions. These contributions must directly benefit events and activities that further the driver skill improvement mission of the club. Social events and fun activities cannot be included. Documenting the activities of the club and validating contributions to the club by our volunteers are the reasons for this process. Charitable contributions will be validated by ACNA for instructors, elected board members, chapter staff, invited members (working a Board project as an example), but not "students" or "attendees" (the paid-for activity). The on-track miles of instructors (also viewed as paid-for activity) are not validated, unless those instructor-delivered miles are "instruction", "demonstration" or "observation" miles using the instructor's vehicle with a registered student in the passenger seat. Sponsors (companies, non-profits, individuals) contributing cash, merchandise, and in-kind services will be validated. If it can be accounted, consideration may be validated as well ("15% Discount on Repair and Parts for member's cars" is an example). Individually, it will amount to a surprising deduction sum if you itemize your federal tax return. The contribution support forms needed are posted on the Downloads page.

Audi Club Northwest is supporting Children's Hospital

For several years, Pete and Sue Dieckerhoff have raised contributions to The SOVREN Guild of Seattle Children's Hospital as part of the annual Audi Car Corral held at the Pacific Northwest Historic Races on the July 4th weekend. Their effort has been successful and wonderfully satisfying for everyone involved. In 2011 the ACNW Board raised our visibility with an annual commitment of $1,000 or more to help uncompensated care to the kids at Seattle Children's Hospital. The amount from us for 2011 was $1,105, and 2012 is already gathering funds. Everyone has the opportunity to select a small donation as part of your event registrations. Each donation produces a tax-deductible receipt as part of your registration that you can use with your tax return. These funds are consolidated and donated once per year to The SOVREN Guild. All of us will be recognized in the Children's Checkered Flag Club as "Audi Club Northwest", inside the front cover of the Pacific Northwest Historics program. The club is also part of a drawing to have one of our attendees start the "Checkered Flag Race" from the starter's stand on the front straight and to also ride in the official Pacific Northwest Historics Pace Car for the following race. A mind blowing experience! There will other developments associated with attending the Audi Car Corral and being involved with Children's Checkered Flag Club, so stay tuned. Thank you all, for the Kids!
